El Centro Federico García Lorca y la Fundación Federico García Lorca, con la colaboración del Unamuno Author Series organizarán en Granada, los próximos lunes 3 de junio y martes 4 de junio un encuentro poético con el que se pretende difundir la obra de un grupo de poetas, la mayoría anglófonos, poco difundidos en nuestro país. El proyecto, que cuenta con la dirección artística de Laura García-Lorca, contará también con una pequeña y exquisita publicación bilingüe con algunos de los poemas que se leerán durante esas dos noches en el Centro Federico García Lorca.

Participantes

 Luis Muñoz nació en Granada en 1966. Es Doctor en Literatura Hispánica por la Universidad de Granada. Es el autor, más recientemente, de Vecindad (2018). Sus otros libros incluyen Querido silencio y Limpiar pescado: Poesía reunida (Cleaning Fish: Collected Poems). En 2015, From Behind What Landscape: New and Selected Poems se publicó en una edición bilingüe (traducción de Curtis Bauer). Es el editor del libro El lugar de la poesía y ha traducido, entre otros libros, El cuaderno del viejo de Giuseppe Ungaretti. Es profesor en el Departamento de Español y Portugués de la Universidad de Iowa (EE.UU). Ha recibido numerosos galardones de prestigio como el Premio Ciudad de Córdoba, el Premio Internacional de Poesía Generación del 27, el Premio Ojo Crítico, y el Premio El Público. Su obra ha sido publicada por Hiperión, Tusquets y Visor y ha sido traducida al inglés. Vive entre Madrid y Iowa City.

 Spencer Reece es el impulsor y director del Unamuno Authors Series. Se licenció en Wesleyan University y obtuvo doctorados en Yale Divinity School y Harvard Divinity Scool. Es autor de The Clerk’s Tale y The Road to Emmaus, nominado para el National Book Award en 2014. En 2017, editó Counting Time Like People Count Stars, una antología de textos de las niñas huérfanas de Our Little Roses in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The Secret Gospel of Mark: A Poet´s Memoir, un próximo libro de no ficción combina la historia de la vida del autor con una reflexión sobre poetas como Sylvia Plath, Elizabeth Bishop, George Herbert, James Merrill, Emily Dickinson, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Mark Strand, Richard Blanco, o Greg Pardlo. The Wylie Agency representará el libro ante los editores y se espera que el libro salga en 2020. Dirigió un documental, producido por James Franco, sobre niñas abandonadas y maltratadas en Honduras. Reece es sacerdote, actualmente en Iglesia Episcopal Española.

 Gregory Pardlo. La colección de Gregory Pardlo Digest (Four Way Books) ganó el Premio Pulitzer de Poesía 2015. Sus otros honores incluyen becas de la Fundación Guggenheim, el National Endowment for the Arts y the New York Foundation for the Arts. Le concedieron la prestigiosa residencia en la MacDowel Artists Colony. Su primera colección, Totem, fue seleccionada por Brenda Hillman para el Premio APR/Honickman en 2007. Es editor de poesía de Virginia Quarterly Review y actualmente enseña en el programa de posgrado en escritura en la Universidad de Rutgers-Camden. El ensayo memorialista, Air Traffic, acaba de ser lanzado por Knopf en abril.

 Joseph Fasano se licenció en la Universidad de Harvard y obtuvo un Masters in Fine Arts de la Universidad de Columbia. Es el autor de cuatro libros de poesía: The Crossing (2018); Vincent (2015); Inheritance (2014), nominado al James Laughlin Award; y Fugue for Other Hands (2013), que ganó el Cider Press Review Book Award, y fue nominado para el Premio de los Poetas, «otorgado anualmente al mejor libro de versos publicado por un poeta estadounidense vivo dos años antes del año del premio». Su trabajo ha aparecido en The Yale Review, The Southern Review, The PEN Poetry Series, American Poets, The Missouri Review, The American Literary Review, Verse Daily, el programa de poem-a-day de The Academy of American Poets y las antologías Poem-a-Day: 365 Poems for Any Occasion (Abrams, 2015) y The Aeolian Harp (Glass Lyre Press, 2016), entre otras publicaciones.  Steven Sanchez, ganador del García Lorca Poetry Prize organizado por Unamuno Authors Series. Es el autor de Phantom Tongue (Sundress Publications, 2018), seleccionado por Mark Doty como ganador del Marsh Hawk Press’ Rochelle Ratner Memorial. También es autor de dos plaquettes de poesía: To My Body (Glass Poetry Press, 2016) y Photographs of Our Shadows (Agape Editions, 2017). Socio de CantoMundo, miembro literario de Lambda Literary, sus poemas han aparecido o aparecerán en American Poetry Review, Poet Lore, Winter Tangerine, North American Review, RHINO, entre otras. Es licenciado en Filosofía y Escritura Creativa por la California State University, Fresno y es actualmente lector de poesía para The Rumpus.

Ruben Quesada es un poeta costarricense-estadounidense. Nació y se crió en Los Ángeles, California. Se licenció en la Unversidad de California, Riverside, y obtuvo el doctorado en Literatura Inglesa en la Universidad de Texas. Es el fundador de Latinx Writers Caucus y editor colaborador de Chicago Review of Books. Se desempeña como profesor en la Northwestern University y en The School of the Art Institute, donde enseña escritura de poesía. Su libro de poemas y de traducciones, Revelations, está disponible en Sibling Rivalry Press, una editorial inclusiva cuyo catálogo completo se encuentra en la división de Libros Raros y Colecciones Especiales de la Biblioteca del Congreso. Es traductor de Luis Cernuda.

 Elena Penga, nacida en Salónica, Grecia, estudió Filosofía y Teatro en la Universidad de Wesleyan y Escritura de Guiones/Obras de Teatro en la University od Sothern California, Los Angeles. En Grecia, su obra teatral ha sido producida por el Notos Theatre, Fournos, Club +SODA, National Theatre of Greece, National Theater of Northern Greece, European Cultural Center of Delphi, Athens International Festival. Su trabajo ha sido traducido al holandés, sueco, alemán, francés, italiano, inglés y español y sus obras representadas en los teatros más prestigiosos del panorama internacional. Actualmente es profesora en la The Greek Open University.

 Jorge Vessel (seudónimo de Jorge García; Caracas, 1979) es escritor, traductor e ingeniero. Autor de los poemarios Pájaro de Cuero Negro (CELARG, 2004), galardonado con el Premio de Poesía Fernando Paz Castillo (Venezuela), y La Carencia (2018), ganador Premio de Poesía Federico Muelas (España). Sus poemas han aparecidos en importantes antologías hispanoamericanas como En-Obra (Equinoccio, 2008) y Cuerpo Plural (Pre-Textos, 2010), así como diversas revistas literarias. Actualmente cursa la Maestría en Escritura Creativa de New York University.

Spencer Reeceis the author of The Clerk’s Taleand The Road to Emmaus, a long-list nominee for the National Book Award in 2014. In 2017, he edited Counting Time Like People Count Stars, an anthology of poetry by the orphaned girls of Our Little Roses in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The Secret Gospel of Mark: A Poet´s Memoir, a forthcoming nonfiction book combines the author´s life story with an appreciation of poets: Sylvia Plath, Elizabeth Bishop, George Herbert, James Merrill, Emily Dickinson, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Mark Strand, Richard Blanco, and Greg Pardlo. The Wylie Agency will represent the book to publishers, and it is hoped the book will come out in 2020. Reece is an ordained Episcopal priest and works as the canon to the ordinary for the Bishop of the Spanish Episcopal Church.

Gregory Pardlo’s​collection,​ Digest(Four Way Books), won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. His other honors​ include fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts; his first collection, Totem, was selected by Brenda Hillman for the APR/Honickman Prize in 2007. He is Poetry Editor of Virginia Quarterly Review and currently teaches in the graduate writing program at Rutgers-Camden University. Air Traffic, a memoir in essays, was released by Knopf in April.

Currently, she teaches at The Greek Open University at the Master’s Program for Creative Writing.

He is currently finishing his MFA in Creative Writing at New York University.
