[Text by Lola Blasco, based on Yerma by Federico García Lorca // Directed by: Pepa Gamboa // Cast: María León, Críspulo Cabezas, Mari Paz Sayago, Lucía Espín, and Diego Garrido]
“In ‘The Passion of Yerma,’ we delve into the conflicts already addressed by Lorca and venture into the tension between desire and morality, motherhood and death, gender and power, but we do it with the freedom offered by our contemporary vision. The way that motherhood cannot be understood today as it was in the last century, in this new version of the classic we consider the different motives that can lead the characters to unleash tragedy since, as García Lorca demonstrated in his day, not even the strongest sense of honor is capable of restraining passion.” (SEDA)
